History of Sunday School at The Vine

Our first Sunday School was organized in 1944 by Sister Ester Adams, a devout, Christian woman full of love for God and her fellow man. As the first Superintendent, she taught men, women, boys and girls to love one another and to fear God. Her motto was Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Brother Adams became our next superintendent, hearing the call "Feed my sheep". 

The third Sunday School Superintendent, Bro. Virgil Brown lived by II Timothy 3:16-16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." Brother Brown had so much love to give that it radiated from him wherever he went.  He was a very straightforward, honest lover of God. Before his death he asked Deacon Cleveland Levy, Sr. to take over as Superintendent. Bro. Levy was a dynamic, humble, peace-loving Christian man who grew daily in the knowledge of God. He served until his death when the present Superintendent, Deacon Arthur Jack accepted the charge.
